One PPC to sync to multiple desktops
To answer the OP's question, I've got one workspace with 4x2 virtual desktop thingies inside it, largely because I don't mind binding CA-[cursors] to going round virtual desktops but I don't want to have to think something like `CS-[cursors] is workspaces but CA-[cursors] is virt desktops', that's too confusing.

does win2000 support virtual desktop?
In troubleshooting the problem, I enabled the multiple desktop feature and created several dummy logins. Each time one initially logs in, Windows 98 displays the usual dialog as it copies the default profile data to the new profile. Interestingly, OE does not detect the new profile area. I finally discovered that

She asked if "multiple desktops" are available in any way. This is where, as I gather, there's an icon on the screen showing N other virtual desktops. Each virtual desktop can have open windows, terminals, etc. This is available in Gnome, the graphical environment favored by many Linux and BSD fans.

I can see why multiple desktops are useful for you. I don't have the same needs so at this point it doesn't appear to be that useful for me. At home I may leave my email program running, but I tend to minimize it to the tray when not in use. It is always one click away. When I am finished browsing I close IE.
